It’s been quiet for a while but the flight sim project is moving forward and it’s testing the wings. Parts of 3D cockpit are now in place and it’s going to look awesome when all the details are in. We have collected lots of reference material, photos, measurements, drawings, etc and we continue to improve the models to make the cockpit as accurate as possible. We are also researching various ideas for the terrain. Currently it’s textured with real life photo textures and although it provides the ultimate in realism it’s unfortunately really only practical for smaller areas. Texturing a large terrain this way would take up an enormous amount of space and hurt performance too much.
Even at this very early stage with only the bare minimum of features working, it’s so much fun to fly around. There is a lot more to come as development continues.
